I have both Nik and DXO, and found that don't need Nik since DXO gives more or less the same result faster, i.e. The Nik Collection 5 by DxO includes a wealth of film looks, filters, and effects for artistic photographersand, this time around, Analog Efex and Color Efex get major updates. I especially like how Nik tools allow you to specify control points as to where effects are to be applied, so now I'm torn as to which software to invest in.Īs a DXO user, FilmPack 5 seems the logical choice but the Nik Tools make more sense in terms of the extras they provide.Īre there any DXO and Nik users out there who can help me make a decision? Nik Collection by DxO version 4.3 adds 35 new nature-inspired presets, adding to the existing suite of more than 250 presets. The Time Machine feature that was added to FilmPack 6 when it released earlier this fall has a new one-click option to apply a particular look to images while browsing. To get film presets, FilmPack is more efficient in the PhotoLab environment. FilmPack 6.1 includes an improved workflow as well. I use it regularly when I have projects being done with both film and digital. Truly the best at rendering a b&w that can at least to the untrained eye, like a true film file. PhotoLab Suite Elite is a very good choice. I temd to prefer the Nik collection.especially Silver Efex 2. I like the output from FilmPack but I've tried out Google's Nik Collection which provides broadly similar (and much more - sharpening etc) functionality than FP5 for around the same price. Dxo filmpack 5 or nik collection pro#I use DXO Optics Pro 10 for my RAW processing and have a trial version of FilmPack 5 which integrates into Optics Pro.
